Come dance to fabulous talent from across the country! Donna Hunt (Pennsylvania) will call to tunes by STEAM! (AZ, KA), David Firestine (mandolin), Alice Boyle (fiddle, viola), Robert Rosenberg (guitar, banjo), and Claire Zucker (bodhran, concertina, clogging, and vocals).
STEAM! brings power, energy, and fun to dance halls around the country. Balancing drive with uplifting elegance, spontaneous quirkiness, and lush harmonies, this band serves the dancer’s every need with intuitive musicality based on decades of combined experience.
STEAM! plays an eclectic variety of tunes for contras; we love modern, old time, Irish, and French Canadian, adding a sprinkling of weird and wonderful tunes from around the world.
Donna Hunt calls contra and square dances with interesting choreography and variations. She is known for utilizing clear, concise instructions to minimize teaching time and maximize dance time. Equally comfortable calling with a “techno” DJ as a “traditional” band of musicians, she offers programs of exciting dances in a variety of figures and formations for the dancers’ enjoyment. Donna infuses the dancers with confidence, regardless of their skill level, and she enjoys guiding new dancers and challenging experienced ones.
