Claire Takemori calling to tunes by Deby Grosjean & members of her Ginormous String Band w Jim Oakden

Beginners workshop at 6:30pm, Family Contra from 7-8:30. Regular Contra Dance after.

What is a Family Contra dance?  You will have an opportunity to invite parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren to come try out the dance 🙂 In the first half of the evening, we will  have simpler Contras to accommodate younger and beginning dancers.

We will be advertising to the broader community to let folks know we are here and that they can come check out a Contra dance!  We are taking this opportunity to introduce Contra to the next generation and more folks in general 🙂

For us regular dancers, this is an opportunity to learn how to dance with children and “Gemini Partners”. A Gemini partner consist of 2 people, a parent and a young child not yet ready to dance on their own.  There are modifications you can make to dance with a Gemini partner or young person that will make dancing more enjoyable and successful!

After the break, we will resume our regular Contra dance with more complicated Contras and will pick up the speed, as we usually do after the break!

Bring a snack to share at the break, and remember your water bottle and dance shoes!
